Exec involved in acquisition of 'Sea,' 'Saw'

Jason Constantine has been promoted to senior VP acquisitions and co-productions for Lions Gate Films.

Constantine will continue to oversee film tracking and acquisition for Lions Gate and will play a key role in the creative oversight of pre-buys, production and post-production. He will also work closely with LGF president of acquisitions, co-productions and television Peter Block in overseeing the acquisitions department.

Constantine joined Lions Gate team in 2000 and has been involved in the acquisitions of pics such as “Saw,” “Open Water,” “Girl With a Pearl Earring,” “The Cooler” and “Beyond the Sea.”

Most recently, he was integral in the purchase of “Crash,” horror thriller “High Tension” and David LaChappelle’s “Rize.” He’s also been involved in the development and production in the next film in the “Saw” franchise.

Constantine began his Lions Gate career as director of acquisitions and later was appointed VP of the department.
