'Rize' to kick off Drive-In Movies at the Rock
After launching an outdoor screening series in 2004 at Rockefeller Center, Gotham-based Independent Feature Project will return to the site Tuesday to Saturday.
The Drive-In Movies at the Rock series will kick off with David LaChapelle’s dance docu “Rize,” to be introduced by the film’s star, Tommy the Clown. Comedy group the State will be on hand to introduce member Michael Showalter’s “The Baxter”; Rosanna Arquette will present her music docu “All We Are Saying.”
This year’s lineup is culled heavily from the Tribeca Film Festival, where all five pics screened. Last year, the series featured Sundance titles “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Garden State.”
Films are free and open to the public. Screen and theater-style seating will be set up in front of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, with films scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.
