'Apres Vous' saw limited release in the U.S. in June
Warner Bros. has acquired remake rights to the French comedy “Apres Vous,” and the studio will craft it as a star vehicle for Billy Crystal, who will produce with Art Linson.
Directed by Pierre Salvadori, the original comedy revolves around a headwaiter of a Paris bistro who happens upon a stranger who is about to commit suicide. After intervening, the waiter befriends the saved man — who promptly turns the waiter’s life upside down. Pic, which stars Daniel Auteuil, Jose Garcia and Sandrine Kimberlain, saw limited release in the U.S. in June.
Crystal, who last starred in “Analyze That” and did voice work for “Monsters, Inc.,” is coming off a stage run in “700 Sundays.”
Pic will be supervised by WB execs Kevin McCormick and Geoff Shaevitz; a writer will be secured shortly. Rights holder Pelleas Films produced the original film.
