NEW YORK — Focus Features exec veep of production Amy Kaufman will ankle the Universal specialty film arm in September to segue to a production deal with the unit.
Focus said Wednesday that Kaufman is being lined up to produce and exec produce a number of features for the division and its genre banner Rogue.
Exec began at Focus in 2002, when Universal created the entity by acquiring Good Machine, tapping the label’s David Linde and James Schamus as co-heads.
Since her promotion to exec veep of production in early 2004, Kaufman has reported to production prexy John Lyons and shepherded such pics as Fernando Meirelles’ “The Constant Gardener” and Jean-Francois Richet’s “Assault on Precinct 13.”
She also was company’s creative liaison with Agustin and Pedro Almodovar’s El Deseo shingle.
Kaufman previously served as Focus exec veep, acquisitions and co-productions, before moving to the production role in 2002.
Prior to joining Focus, Kaufman was senior veep of acquisitions and co-productions at Good Machine Intl., where she exec produced Alfonso Cuaron’s “Y tu mama tambien.”
She also worked at Miramax Intl.
