Leslee Dart has hired longtime Miramax Films publicity exec Tom Piechura to be a senior executive and strategist for upstart public relations company the Dart Group.
Piechura will oversee national publicity campaigns for movie and TV projects. He was most recently VP at Miramax, where he had worked since 1994. Piechura headed national publicity campaigns for such films as “The Aviator,” “Kill Bill Vol. 1” and “Kill Bill Vol. 2,” “Cold Mountain” and “Gangs of New York.” Piechura worked on print, broadcast and Academy campaigns and previously served as entertainment editor for Talk magazine.
“Tom and I have worked on many campaigns together over the years,” Dart said. “He knows how directors think and he knows how to launch films. He’ll be a great asset.”
After being fired as president-chief operating officer of PMK/HBH in the fall, Dart hung her own shingle late last year. She has already put together a client list that includes Woody Allen, Wes Anderson, Brian Grazer, Tom Hanks, Ron Howard, Rob Marshall, Anthony Minghella, Mike Nichols, Sydney Pollack, Scott Rudin, Martin Scorsese and the “Oprah Winfrey Presents” franchise.
