1956: Huston offers H’wood ‘Heaven’

Sept.14, 1956: John Huston gets a bonus if he brings in “Heaven Knows Mr. Allison” on schedule. But Bob Mitchum, who read the revised script before departing for the West Indies location last night wryly commented, “I’ll be sending Christmas with coconuts” … Hollywood’s hottest threesome, Elvis Presley, Natalie Wood and Nick Adams, may be teamed in a pic — at least so Presley plans it for the future. They all attended the preview of “The Last Wagon” in which Adams has the best role of his career. And Presley and Wood were smooching when Adams wasn’t onscreen. P.S. She should know better than to smoke in the theater, too … Jayne Mansfield hopes to find a role for her muscle-man boy friend Mickey Hargitay in “Do Re Mi” … For the first time in her career, Eleanor Parke asked that visitors and press be limited on the “Lizzie” set. The triple role has her in circles … Mario Lanza, looking great, put away three steaks (no potatoes) at the Sportsmen’s Lodge … Fox West Coast quietly cut the Chinese top price of $2.40, established with “The King and I,” down to “Bus” fare, $2.
