1956: Crosby, Grant say ‘I do’

Sept. 7, 1956: The Bing Crosby-Kathryn Grant wedding could happen this weekend — they’re both up at Hayden Lake. Lindsay C.’s also up there. Screen Gems received word Grant wouldn’t be here Monday to start work. Crosby and missus (?) expect to spend a month at Pebble Beach before reporting to Sol Siegel at Metro … Bergman’s “Anastasia” is finished and Twentieth’s looking for more properties — they have her for two more pix … Twentieth now has 49 players under contract, an encour-aging sign these days … Elvis Presley, Natalie Wood and Nick Adams dined in Presley’s hotel suite, then went to the Iris theater to see “Hot-Rod Girl” and “Girls in Prison.” Presley likes pix about hot rods and juveniles. Shades of Jimmy Dean? … Jack Lemmon’s cable from Lon-don to Fred Kohlmar and Dick Quine: “Just saw the ‘Solid Gold Bent-ley’ — splendid” … Ava Gardner calls her Madrid home “The Witch’s House” … Mike Curtiz scouted Ciro’s and Mocambo yesterday, heads to Chicago’s Chez Paree Monday for possible locations of the Helen Morgan pic. This will be Curtiz’s seventh biofilm.
