Honoree served on contract negotiating committees

HOLLYWOOD — The Writers Guild of America East will honor John Auerbach for service to the guild at the Feb. 19 WGA Awards at the Pierre Hotel in New York.

Auerbach served on the 2001 and 2004 contract negotiating committees, and was cited for leadership in unifying writers from the East and West branches around the most pressing issues.

He also served as a member of the WGAE Steering Committee, which helped develop the Pattern of Demands; on the Committee for an Informed Membership, which created the strategic plan for membership outreach; and on the Waiver Review Committee for Film.

Auerbach worked as a sound editor in the 1980s on the indie films “Liquid Sky,” “Stranger Than Paradise” and “Down by Law.” He’s a lifetime member of the WGA East, having penned screenplays for Col, Miramax, Warner Bros., TriStar and Intermedia and teleplays for HBO, Showtime, USA and CBS.
