“Elf” helmer Jon Favreau will receive this year’s Director of the Year honor at ShowEast in Orlando, Fla.
Kudo will be handed out Oct. 25 before a screening of Favreau’s Columbia Pictures film “Zathura,” an intergalactic adventure penned by David Koepp and John Kamps, and based on the kids’ book by “Jumanji” author Chris Van Allsburg.
Screening will take place at the AMC Pleasure Island Theater Complex in Orlando.
“What makes this even more special is the fact that ShowEast had the honor of debuting his last film, ‘Elf,’ back in 2003,” said Mitch Neuhauser, co-managing director of ShowEast.
ShowEast runs Oct. 24-27 at the Orlando World Center Marriott; 2,500 attendees are expected.
Director James Ivory and the late Ismail Merchant will be awarded the ShowEast Lifetime Achievement Award Oct. 27.
