Career kudos for docmakers

Husband-wife team to be honored by IDA

The Intl. Documentary Assn. has tapped D.A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus to receive the org’s 2005 career achievement award.

Duo will be honored during the 21st annual IDA Awards benefit gala Dec. 9 at the DGA.

Pennebaker and Hegedus, who have been married since 1982, have collaborated on “The War Room,” “Elaine Stritch at Liberty,” “Jimi Plays Monterey,” “Town Bloody Hall,” “DeLorean,” “Rockaby,” “Depeche Mode 101,” “Woodstock Diary,” “Moon Over Broadway” and “Down From the Mountain.”

Pennebaker has compiled more than 30 credits as a director, cinematographer, editor and producer; Hegedus has more than 20 as a director, cinematographer and occasional sound crew.
