The sounds of “Sideways” swept through Bel Air’s Vibrato eatery Monday night.
Shut out of the Oscar music races but undaunted, pic’s composer, Rolfe Kent, and seven jazz artists, treated the crowd to an hour of music from the film.
It was Kent’s first Left Coast perf, following a similar event hosted by the Public Theater in Gotham last month.
Helmer Alexander Payne, in town for a flash between European press junkets, checked in with his producer Michael London, production designer Jane Ann Stewart and novelist Rex Pickett, while thesp Virginia Madsen watched as her son showed off his dance moves for the pinot noir-sipping crowd.
Sustaining the “Sideways” wine-tasting theme, California vintners Hitching Post and Fiddlehead poured generously.
