Mitchell’s ”Bus’ stops for Bac

World Brief

Bac Films has acquired distrib rights in Gaul to John Cameron Mitchell’s short “Shortbus.” Pic was licensed by Hong Kong- and Amsterdam-based Fortissimo Films.

Mitchell said last year that his soph effort would feature graphic gay and straight sex scenes performed by amateur players.

Cast also features pro thesps Lee Sook-yin, Paul Dawson, Lindsay Beamish, PJ DeBoy, Raphael Barker, Jay Brannan and Peter Stickles.

Film is majority-financed by Q Television, a subscription cabler aimed at gay viewers; it went into production for 30 days starting May 9. Mitchell said he’s aiming to screen the film at next year’s Berlin Film Festival, perhaps with a sneak peek at Sundance.
