‘Robot’ in the Swim

Cabler orders 20 new episodes

Adult Swim has greenlit a second season of top-rated original skein “Robot Chicken.”

Cabler has ordered up 20 new episodes of the stop-motion satire from creator-exec producers Seth Green and Mathew Senreich for a spring premiere. Fifteen-minute segs feature sketch-comedy vignettes that send up the worlds of pop culture and celebrity.

“Robot Chicken” averaged a robust 870,000 adult 18-34 viewers in its first cycle, nearly doubling Adult Swim’s total-day average in the demo. Skein, which airs Sundays and Thursdays, premiered to 732,000 adults 18-34 and peaked during the June 26 episode with 1.1 million viewers in the category.

Production on the new season is under way.

Since splitting from Cartoon Network as a separately rated channel earlier this year, Adult Swim has ranked as the No. 1 net among viewers 18-34 in total-day cable rankings. Last month, cabler averaged 441,000 viewers in the demo. Channel runs Saturday-Thursday from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
