Rainmaker launches f/x arm

Post house has plans for toon prod'n

HOLLYWOOD — Vancouver post house Rainmaker has set up Rainmaker Animation and Visual Effects, and hired vet f/x producer Warren Franklin as prexy of the new division.

Rainmaker plans to build a feature animation studio for production of CGI films in collaboration with Franklin’s development and production company.

Company’s new f/x division has already lined up feature and TV work including Warner’s “Firewall,” Fox’s “Dr. Dolittle 3” and skeins “Stargate SG-1” and “Stargate Atlantis.”

Franklin’s experience includes stints as VP and general manager of Industrial Light & Magic, Lucas Entertainment Group, Colossal Pictures, Cinesite and Pinnacle Studios.

With more than 150 employees, Rainmaker is one of Vancouver’s largest post facilities.
