Portalcast showcasing shorts

Short Take

Portalcast has announced a call for all filmmakers to submit short films for showcasing on its Portalcast Entertainment Network before October.

Earl Votolato, president of the Portalcast Entertainment Network, estimates a creative film of three minutes or less — the required length — could bring its filmmaker more than $5,000 a month for a run lasting six months or longer.

The new technology consists of high-speed broadband connections at digital portals at venues such as restaurants and car washes, where viewers will be charged a small fee to see an original film. The portals are expected to debut in California around November and expand throughout the U.S. and Canada.
