Maverick says Amen

Output deal to expand Spirit label

MIAMI — South Florida-based Maverick Entertainment Group has inked a five-year exclusive output deal with Atlanta-based Amen Films.

Maverick, a producer-distributor of DVDs that has specialized in urban, Latino and horror titles, said deal helps expand its Christian/inspirational label Spirit, complementing its existing catalog of niche films.

Deal, finalized and signed at the VSDA Home Entertainment show in Las Vegas, covers faith-based special-interest programs and feature films under the Maverick Spirit and Amen Films labels.

Amen anticipates producing or acquiring up to 12 titles annually to be distributed via Spirit.

Amen Films will handle marketing and promotion in Christian media and events. Maverick will handle marketing and promotion to retailers and retailers nationwide.

First release marries the Christian and urban genres: “Holy Hip Hop: The Movie,” produced and edited by Christopher “Play” Martin (“House Party”) and HP4 Digital Works, will be released later this year.

Martin is also executive director of Amen Films.

“Holy Hip Hop” is set in the world of street ministry evangelism.

Amen Films is a sister company to the Holy Hip Hop Music label, which is distributed globally through EMI.

Amen Films intends to negotiate with leading gospel recording talent to appear in Spirit/Amen productions.
