Auction looms on Voom

Las Vegas event will be interactive for subs

Chuck Dolan’s Gallery HD, one of 10 high-def cable networks packaged under the name Voom, will carry a live auction on Oct. 29 of celebrity memorabilia drawn from the estates of personages such as John Lennon, Marilyn Monroe and Charlie Chaplin.

The event will be interactive: Voom subscribers will be able to buy some of the items by placing live bids online at one of two Web sites that will feed into the show throughout the auction. Taking place at the Aladdin Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, the auction will be organized by Julien’s.

Among the collectibles on sale are the white suit that Lennon wore on the final Beatles album cover for “Abbey Road” and a monogrammed 1961 appointment book owned by Monroe, who filled it with notations about appointments, invitations and engagements.

Other celebs with stuff to be sold include Debbie Reynolds, Shirley Jones, Larry Hagman and Carrie Fisher.
