Sirius sprints to phone deal

PCS Vision users to be eligible for fee-based channels

Satellite radio is coming off the satellite.

Satcaster Sirius has signed a deal with Sprint to offer some of its programming to cell phone users.

Details have yet to be worked out, but new service is expected to bring some of Sirius’ music channels to Sprint subscribers who use its PCS Vision mobile media option, for which they pay an additional fee.

Details and launch plans will be revealed later this year.

Deal gives Sirius, which has racked up heavy losses due to its investments in exclusive content such as Howard Stern and the NFL, as well as in marketing, an additional revenue stream for its exclusive content with little added cost.
