Malaga fest launches TV market

Event aims to attract buyers from b'casters, feevee

MADRID — The Malaga Spanish Film Festival, the country’s biggest fest, is launching a TV Market and minimart ArtTV, the latter focusing on alternate tech content such as video art, Web sites and vidgames.

Backed by the Icex Spanish export board, Spanish producers org Fapae and local pubcaster Canal Sur, the TV Market will run parallel to Malaga’s Mercadoc docu mart April 28-30.

Showcasing Spanish TV series, minis, TV movies, animation and formats, the TV Market aims to attract buyers from European broadcasters and pay TV channels.

ArtTV will take place April 27-29 and feature installations by Spanish artists such as Bigas Luna.

Attended by 83 buyers from 38 countries in 2004, Mercadoc is a market and a pitching session.

The Malaga fest will also host its traditional Spanish feature film Market Screenings April 24-26.
