Scorsese classic celebrates 10th anni
Universal Studios Home Entertainment will exploit the Las Vegas and DVD connections within the NBC-Universal family once again next month with a cross-promotional showing of “Casino” on USA Network just three days before the release of a special 10th anniversary DVD edition.
“Casino” will take up the entire Saturday primetime block on USA June 11, and will include four spots for the June 14 DVD. Two of the spots will be 45-second “DVD Spotlight” mini informercials like the spots that now run regularly on Monday nights between NBC’s “Fear Factor” and “Las Vegas” to tout the bonus features on new Universal DVDs.
“Casino” traditionally rates well on USA, but the network had not scheduled it for June 11 until its sister DVD division raised the marketing opportunity as part of the regular bi-weekly meeting of the inter-divisional marketing council created after the $14 billion merger of NBC-Universal a year ago.
