Added footage in question is found in the infamous puppet sex scene, where auds can now see “Team America” heroes Lisa and Gary express their deep love for one another, namely through urination and defecation. It’s a fitting climax to the tawdry sequence, but it’s not really that much dirtier than the scene’s theatrical version.
Extra features include a number of behind-the-scenes featurettes revealing the production methods of a crew that prefers the pic’s low-tech practical effects to the CGI used in typical action fare. The f/x team, including puppet masters the Chiodo Brothers, obviously reveled in creating some of the most sophisticated puppets ever seen onscreen — and then blowing them up.
There’s also a look at the pic’s villain, wherein Parker and Stone suggest that their version of Kim Jong Il (voiced by Parker) isn’t all that far from the truth. For extra laughs, try watching Kim’s rendition of “I’m So Ronery” with subtitles, which faithfully transcribe his broken “Engrish.” “Team America” is also available in an R-rated version.
