Longtime Playboy Home Entertainment sales exec Tony Borg has been named prexy of Tartan Video.
Tartan Video is a division of U.K.-based Tartan Film’s Tartan USA film and home entertainment unit that was formed five months ago under Tartan USA CEO M.J. Peckos, to whom Borg will report.
Tartan USA is planning to release 10 theatrical films this year, including Cannes grand jury prize winner “Oldboy” on Friday.
The company plans more than 30 DVD releases in 2005 through distributor TLA Releasing, led by a collection of Asian genre titles under the unit’s Asia Extreme label.
As part of the expansion, Sean Keeley, formerly of Lions Gate, has been named director of publicity.
Borg, a 15-year home entertainment industry vet, spent eight years as director of sales and promotions for Playboy, where he helped guide the company to recognition as Billboard magazine’s No. 1 video sales label for three consecutive years.
At Lions Gate, Keeley was involved with publicity and promotion on home entertainment campaigns including “Fahrenheit 9/11,” “Saw,” “Open Water” and “The Punisher.”
Tartan Films, formed in 1982, has released more than 300 films in the U.K., including “The Cooler,” “Super Size Me,” “Capturing the Friedmans,” “Secretary” and “The Triplets of Belleville.”
