'Gone' grabs grand jury prize

Disney and Warners were big winners at the second annual Mipcom DVD Awards on Tuesday in Cannes.

Launched in June 2004 and organized in partnership with the DVD Assn. (DVDA) in the U.S. and the Intl. Video Federation in Europe, the Mipcom DVD Awards reward creativity and innovation in disc content, Web features and interactivity, program content restoration, special features, navigation and graphic design.

This year’s awards boasted three new categories: music, games and sports, bringing the total number of categories to 10.

British comedian Julian Clary presented the laurels; Dutch band Werring performed several live songs. Event was sponsored by Warner Bros. and the American catalog for cultural programs, Kultur.

Here are the 11 winners of the Mipcom DVD Awards 2005:
