Black-and-white episodes from the late 1950s seem painfully demure — quaint, if you like — all the way from the white pinafores to the leisurely pacing and squeaky clean good cheer. By the early 1990s the still wholesome update sported jazzy production values, with fast-paced edits and riotous color.

But let’s face it, the real appeal of “Mickey Mouse Club: The Best of Britney, Justin & Christina” for anyone over 12 isn’t so much nostalgia for days gone by as kitschy curiosity about the early warblings by tabloid fixtures Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera, who shared the small screen during the last two seasons of “The All New Mickey Mouse Club.” Yes, that’s former lovebirds Spears and Timberlake crooning a cover of Chakka Khan’s “I Feel for You” and a fresh faced Aguilera emoting “I Have Nothing” in highlight clips, but otherwise, the pickings are slim for tabazine fans of the trashy trio.

Future ‘Nsync-er J.C. Chasez, Keri Russell and Ryan Gosling don’t even rate special mention in this disc, best viewed by the Tiger Beat crowd.
