NEW YORK — The National Television Academy will fete future Disney CEO Robert Iger with the Trustees Award at a dinner at Gotham’s Marriott-Marquis on Oct. 20. Iger, prexy-chief operating officer of Disney, becomes chief exec Oct. 1.
Academy president Peter Price lauded Iger, saying he is not only “a successful chief executive of a growing global enterprise, but he has managed to invest himself personally in matters of moment to his colleagues and his community.”
Sig Mickelson, CBS’ first news prexy, who helped launch Walter Cronkite’s career, will be honored in memoriam with an induction into the Academy’s Management Hall of Fame.
Television exec David Barrett, prexy-CEO of Hearst-Argyle Television, will also be inducted.
Honorary vice-chairs for the event include Michael Eisner, Sumner Redstone, Anne Sweeney, Barbara Walters, Harvey Weinstein and Jeff Zucker.
