Combining operations done to 'simplify the presence'

Seven stand-alone publishing companies will now operate as divisions of Condé Nast Publications.

Companies include Condé Nast magazines, the new Condé Nast Business Magazine division, Fairchild Publications, Golf Digest Publications, the Condé Nast Media Group, CondéNet and the Condé Nast Shared Services Centers.

Combining operations under one umbrella was done in an effort to “simplify the presence (of all divisions’ publications) in the market place,” explained Maurie Perl, SVP, chief communications officer at Condé Nast Publications.

Advance Magazine Group, which prior to the consolidation served as Conde Nast’s parent company, will, according to Perl, become a “retired name.”

Former CEOs Mary Berner and Mitch Fox will become officers of Condé Nast Publications. Berner will serve as president of the Fairchild division while Fox will serve a prexy of the Golf Digest division. They join David Carey, recently named prexy of the Condé Nast Business Magazine division.

In addition Debi Chirichella has been named Nast’s chief financial officer and Bob Sauerberg will become exec VP, consumer marketing.

All division presidents will report to Condé Nast Publications prexy and CEO Charles H. Townsend.
