Ancine taps 2 to long-vacant slots

World Brief

The National Cinema Agency (Ancine), the regulatory agency in charge of the sector, has appointed Manoel Rangel Neto and Nilson Rodrigues da Fonseca to fill posts left vacant since October 2003 and December 2004, respectively.

Ancine oversees the tax incentive system for the production sector through the Audiovisual Law, collects the Condecine tax on foreign pay TV programmers and monitors film quotas, among other duties.

The pair, who will serve four-year terms, join Gustavo Dahl, the agency’s president, and Joao da Silveira.

Rangel and Rodrigues will increase the government’s influence in Ancine and will politically strengthen the agency.
