Acting CEO for Hoyts

World Brief

Stuart McInnes has been named acting chief exec of Hoyts exhibition, which operates 377 screens at 47 sites in Oz and New Zealand.

He replaces Darin Walters, who was let go Friday after 14 months in the position (Daily Variety, March 14).

General manager of Hoyts in New Zealand, McInnes previously repped the company in London and spent some time in the Sydney head office.

Walters’ exit came a week after Publishing & Broadcasting Ltd. shareholders approved a deal to buy Hoyts in a joint venture with West Australian Newspapers.

In February, Walters began restructuring and pinkslipped 28 out of some 50 staffers at the exhib’s Sydney headquarters.
