To the editor:
I’m writing to you because I was struck by Daily Variety’s cover on April 4. The headline was about Dimension’s “Sin City” grossing $28 million. Below it was a story headlined “People’s pontiff was pop icon.”
My question to you is: Isn’t the relentless emphasis on box office, even in the event of the death of a 20th century giant, contributing paradoxically to the malaise you constantly address in your writing?
