‘Viva’ touts Latino arts

U.S. Navy is title sponsor of show

MIAMI — “Viva America,” a one-hour English-lingo show dedicated to Latino arts and culture in the U.S. — and the Hispanic influence on mainstream culture — bows Saturday on BET Jazz.

Show is a joint venture between BET Jazz and R. Paniagua, a Gotham-based Latino marketing and publishing firm.

R. Paniagua will produce 13 episodes that will air Saturdays at 10 p.m. Via a joint venture with the New York Daily News. Paniagua publishes the bilingual Viva New York magazine, distributed to 400,000 homes.

BET Jazz reaches more than 14 million homes in the U.S. and Caribbean.

Paniagua said the U.S. Navy has signed on as the title sponsor of the show, with American Airlines, Verizon and Marriott as co-sponsors.
