BUENOS AIRES — Telefe Intl., the foreign sales arm of Argentina’s No. 1 broadcaster Telefe, has begun selling TV rights for films produced by Disney-backed Patagonik Film Group, the country’s biggest production outfit.
Telefe Intl., a subsid of Spain’s Telefonica, began marketing more than a dozen titles — including Marcelo Pineyro’s drama “Kamchatka” and Daniel Burman’s love story “Todas las azafatas van al cielo” (Every Stewardess Goes to Heaven) — at June’s Discop in Budapest, the premier TV market in Eastern Europe.
Films have been sold to broadcasters in Hungary and Romania and negotiations are advancing in Poland, Russia and other countries, says Patagonik sales manager Octavio Nadal. Patagonik is already strong in Latin America, Europe and the U.S. and is targeting Eastern Europe and Asia for new growth, Nadal says.
