Soccer kicks WFUT ratings into high gear

Peru, Columbia match is cablers' highest-rated program

Live matches of Copa America, the Latin America soccer championship, have brought Spanish-language station WFUTNew York its highest ratings in 2½ years on the air.

The top-rated match on July 12 between Peru and Columbia scored a 13.8 rating and 18 share, making it the highest-rated program ever on the cable channel.

The 14 first-round games seen in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut scored an average rating of 9.2/14.

Quarter and semifinal Copa matches on WFUT overall drew a 11.6/18, a 240% increase from this time period in 2003.
