BERLIN — Haim Saban’s ProSiebenSat 1 broadcasting group has lined up a slew of new TV series and film blockbusters for the upcoming season, including “Nip/Tuck,” “The OC,” “Spider-Man,” “Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones” and “My Big Fat Greek Wedding.”
The group unveiled its fall schedule highlights at its Big Picture event, a special presentation for advertisers held in Dusseldorf on ThursdayBig Picture replaced the Telemesse, a joint advertising confab with rival RTL that the two broadcasters canceled this year.
Other major titles set to unspool next season on flagship channel ProSieben include “A Beautiful Mind,” “Men in Black II,” “Signs,” “Vanilla Sky” and Teutonic two-parters “The Blood of the Templars” and “Rats 2.”
Returning for the last time are two of ProSieben’s biggest hits, “Sex and the City” and “Friends.”
Comedian and filmmaker Michael “Bully” Herbig, who has again struck gold with his most recent bigscreen effort “(T)Raumschiff Surprise — Periode I,” will return to ProSieben with new comedy show “Bully & Rick.”
In addition to its popular “Popstars,” ProSieben will bow “Urlaubtausch” (Vacation Swap), in which candidates with completely different tastes are forced to go on holiday together. Other highlights include BBC documentaries “Supervolcano” and “Space Odyssey.”
“We are making our broadcasters faster, livelier and more emotional,” said ProSiebenSat 1 topper Guillaume de Posch. Indeed, a division has been established to spot and develop popular programming trends quickly.
The optimistic Posch has raised forecasts for full-year advertising revenue, saying he now expects the market to grow around 2%.
ProSiebenSat 1 invests more than a billion euros annually in programming and is Hollywood’s biggest client in Europe. It has direct or indirect output deals with Sony, Warners, Paramount, Disney, Miramax, DreamWorks and Lucasfilm.
