Toymaker will create animated shorts
MIAMI — Nickelodeon Latin America has inked a multi-pronged deal with toy manufacturer Mattel that includes original programming.
The channel, distributed in Spanish, Portuguese and English, will create a 13-episode series of animated shorts/vignettes based on Mattel’s My Scene dolls, which are targeted at girls 8-14.
The series will bow in the third quarter of this year and will also include an online component. Viewers can pick alternative endings by voting on a My Scene site that will be added to mundonick.com.
Nickelodeon will also have exclusive pay TV rights to two Mattel My Scene specials: “My Scene Jammin’ in Jamaica” and “My Scene — Masquerade Madness.”
