NBC’s ‘Loser’ gets bigger

A few weeks away from its live season finale, NBC unscripted skein “The Biggest Loser” popped its largest numbers yet Tuesday in helping NBC to another victory on the night in key demos, according to preliminary nationals from Nielsen. CBS led the pack in total viewers.

From 8 to 9:30, “Biggest Loser” averaged a series-high 4.6 rating/12 share in adults 18-49 and 11 million viewers overall, winning its slot in key demos – NBC’s best series delivery in the time period in 13 months. Peacock then fell off at 9:30 with a repeat “Scrubs” (2.8/7 in adults 18-49, 6.8 million viewers overall) but picked up with a slot demo victory at 10 with a repeat “Law & Order: SVU” (4.4/12 in adults 18-49, 11.0 million viewers overall).

ABC had a solid night, led off by a repeat of “Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown” (3.2/9 in adults 18-49, 10.3 million viewers overall) and nice second-place showing with comedies “According to Jim” (3.8/10 in adults 18-49, 11.4 million viewers overall) and “George Lopez” (3.9/10 in adults 18-49, 11.4 million viewers overall) in a special 9:30 airing. At 10, “NYPD Blue” was on par with recent weeks (3.4/9 in adults 18-49, 10.3 million viewers overall).

CBS was paced by “Amazing Race 6,” which led at 9 in key demos (4.0/10 in adults 18-49, 10.6 million viewers overall) but was down vs. recent weeks, and Fox by more credible numbers at 9 for drama “House” (2.6/7 in adults 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: NBC, 4.2/11; ABC, 3.5/9; CBS, 3.5/9; Fox, 2.1/6; WB, 1.4/4; UPN, 1.1/3.

In total viewers: CBS, 12.2 million; ABC, 10.7 million; NBC, 10.3 million; Fox, 5.3 million; WB, 3.0 million; UPN, 2.5 million.
