Pubcaster earns ire after alleged breach of deal

Helmer Lukas Moodysson is urging the industry to boycott SVT Drama’s “August,” after the Swedish pubcaster allegedly reneged on a promise to allow the skein’s scriptwriter to choose its helmer.

Peter Birro has accused SVT Drama — one of Scandinavia’s largest production houses — of breach of promise after it appointed Richard Hobert to work on the prestigious skein about the Swedish playwright and novelist August Strindberg, due to air Christmas 2005.

He is supported by the Swedish Writers’ Assn. and 31 actors and directors including Moodysson, Thommy Berggren, Stefan Jarl and Bjorn Runge.
