CTV called to ‘Action’

Series to be b'casted simultaneously with NBC in June

HOLLYWOOD — Nonfiction specialist GRB has licensed its upcoming action reality hybrid series “Next Action Star” in Canada with terrestrial station CTV. The event-driven reality series will be broadcast by CTV simultaneously with NBC during primetime June 14.

The announcement was jointly made Tuesday by GRB prexy-CEO Gary R. Benz and Michael Murphy, senior VP-managing director for Fox Incendo, who reps GRB programs in Canada.

Under the agreement, CTV will hold rights to the Joel Silver-produced telepic, as yet untitled, that will feature the “Next Action Star” winners.

“Everyone knows what has happened to Mel, Bruce and Arnold thanks to their association with Joel Silver,” Benz said.

Deal is GRB’s first in Canada with a terrestrial station rather than a cabler.

The format for “Next Action Star” was created by Benz and Michael Branton.
