Net ups the stakes on hot new skein
HOLLYWOOD — “World Series of Blackjack” is headed back to the table.
Cabler GSN has ordered a second round of the casino-based hit, whose first season provided the net with hefty growth in key young-adult demos.
Net has upped the stakes accordingly, with 40 professional and amateur players vying for a $250,000 grand prize, as opposed to last season’s $100,000. GSN will shell out $500,000 in prize money over the course of 13 episodes.
Originally taped at the Mohegan Sun Casino & Resort in Connecticut, series will unfold at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Matt Vasgersian, who also hosts GSN’s “Celebrity Blackjack,” will return as host alongside blackjack pro and gambling consultant Max Rubin.
“World Series of Blackjack” is exec-produced by Paul Abeyta and Peter Kaikko for Montana Prods. and will premiere Jan. 11.
