Cannes' Cayla feted by cultural minister
PARIS — Cannes Film Festival managing director Veronique Cayla has been made an Officer of France’s National Order of Merit, Gaul’s highest after the Legion d’Honneur.
Culture minister Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres decorated Cayla in Paris recently as fest prexy Gilles Jacob and artistic director Thierry Fremaux looked on.
The minister praised the trio for working “in close synergy and complicity, which I imagine must sometimes be stormy because you all have strong personalities.”
But the compliments were reserved for Cayla, who told the group, “You’ve made me blush.”
