Thesps fly into B’way fundraiser

Event features plays written, staged in less than 24 hours

Broadway’s annual “24 Hour Plays” fundraiser is all about performing on the fly.

Fisher Stevens and Maria Bello certainly took that premise to heart this year, practicing their lines via BlackBerry in the cab after winging back from the Toronto film fest. At the after-event at the W Times Square’s Whiskey Bar, Stevens pointed to the smeared lines written on his hands like battle wounds.

“This year, I was really terrified.”

During the Working Playground fundraiser, six 10-minute plays are written and staged in less than 24 hours.

Other thesps taking the leap were Rachel Dratch, Christina Ricci, Ben Shenkman, Lili Taylor, Sam Rockwell, Rosie Perez, Amanda Peet and Billy Crudup.
