Showbiz toasts agent for good

A mix of Holocaust survivors, industryites feted Lovett

HOLLYWOOD — Steven Spielberg outed CAA prexy Richard Lovett‘s philanthropic side during the Jan. 14 Ambassadors for Humanity dinner, a benefit for the Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation.

“Richard has a secret life of philanthropy and mentoring young people in schools in California, and not a lot of people know how dedicated and devoted Richard is to his own mentoring program, which runs parallel with what we do with the Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation. So these two parallel tracks made this evening possible,” said Spielberg.

Host Mike Myers drew laughs from the crowd, a mix of Holocaust survivors and industryites such as Ron Meyer, Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, after he asked the honoree to stand, then said, “I know you hate doing stuff like that but I had to have you stand because you’re my agent and I had no idea what you looked like.”

Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora performed at the benefit on the Universal lot.
