Pic's producers hoping to help oust Bush

“Silver City” wore its politics on its sleeve at Tuesday’s ArcLight preem.

Helmer John Sayles readily admitted the current political climate inspired the satire.

“About a year ago (politics) started to become a really one-sided conversation. You’re suddenly un-patriotic if you don’t like what’s going on,” Sayles said, adding, “We really hurried this into production before the election.”

Producer Maggie Renzie said the duo wanted to “do anything we could to get rid of Bush. We had an idea for a movie where we could gather people together in the dark and have a good laugh at him.”

Pic’s Daryl Hannah, Michael Murphy, Mary Kay Place, Miguel Ferrer and Billy Zane were on hand. Also in attendance was Anjelica Huston, sister of pic’s star Danny Huston.
