Rockers step up for all-star gig

Musicians make good for net

All star cover band Camp Freddy hit the road for two recent shows benefiting the Step Up Women’s Network. Donovan Leitch (right) led the Oct. 23 merrymaking at the Wiltern, assisted by Dave Navarro and the Cult’s Billy Morrison (below left and right). Stephan Jenkins injected a political note with his cover of Hendrix’s “Hey, Joe,” letting the lyrics (“where you going with that gun in your hand”) do the talking. Later in the show he and Berlin’s Terri Nunn (bottom right) torched the joint with their version of Goldfinger’s “Feel Like Making Love.” Afterward, revelers headed to the House of Blues after-party sponsored by evening’s benefactors, DKNY Jeans and Vanity Fair. A few days earlier, Lou Reed and the B-52s’ Fred Schneider rocked out at Gotham’s Irving Plaza.
