There were surprises galore at Thursday’s party for “Match.”
Scary Spice chatted up Randy Jones of the Village People. Frank Langella came with opera singer Renee Fleming. And choreographer Alphonse Poulin let it be known that he’s been married twice but has “no illegitimate children.”
In “Match,” Langella knits up a storm, and true to form, Poulin came to the party at Metronome in a colorfully patterned self-made sweater. While he had thumbs-up for Stephen Belber‘s play, he didn’t think much of the production’s parade of sweaters. “Macy’s,” he sniffed.
If anyone noticed, Ray Liotta made his Broadway debut in “Match.”
“I did work as a bartender for the Shuberts,” he qualified.
“He looks familiar,” said Shubert prexy Phil Smith.
