Sherak promises to return as event topper
HOLLYWOOD — In his 12th and (at the moment) final year chairing the Dinner of Champions Award, Tom Sherak stepped out on a high note: The event raised a record $3.2 million for the fight against multiple sclerosis.“I’m not stopping,” said Sherak, quoting California’s governor: “I’ll be back.” Honoree Tom Rothman confirmed the dinner put his competitive streak to good use. “All they had to do is wave the flag of how much Harvey (Weinstein) raised last year,” the Fox Film co-chair said in his acceptance. Among those in the Century Plaza ballroom were Peter Chernin, Dick Cook, Alan Horn, Joe Roth and Keenen Ivory Wayans. Randy Newman and Christopher Cross performed.
