Nathanson pic keeps insiders in stitches

Touchstone preemed its send-up of Hollywood, “The Last Shot,” Tuesday in Gotham, where tongues were still planted firmly in cheek.

Tyro helmer Jeff Nathanson dubbed the sting caper, which hits theaters Sept. 24, the “Yom Kippur event of the season.”

“Movie people love to laugh at themselves,” Nathanson claimed.

Certainly, the audience reaction to the film bore him out. The night’s biggest laughs all came on insider jokes, such as, “It’s in Variety. We can’t have articles written about famous actresses starring in our undercover operations in Variety.”

Alec Baldwin said the film is sending up something that’s true, “which is that people will go to any lengths to be in the movie business.”

Also hobnobbing at the Four Seasons after-soiree: producers David Hoberman and Larry Brezner, plus Brett Ratner and Serena and Venus Williams.
