Muses meet for eat and greet
NEW YORK — New York Women in Film and Television feted Disney/ABC Television prexy Anne Sweeney, soap star Susan Lucci, actress Lee Grant and production designer Kristi Zea as their Muses last week. The luncheon kudofest was emceed by Sandra Bernhard, who greeted the crowd deadpanning, “I have almost nothing to say.”
ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” intro’d Sweeney with a taped bit wherein the four stars sat around the kitchen table and discussed Sweeney’s career accomplishments as though she had once lived on Wisteria Lane, but moved away. Brie Van de Camp (Marcia Cross) noted with disappointment, “She could have been a great desperate housewife.”
Also at the Hilton’s Mercury Ballroom: Barbara Walters, Margot Kidder and the org’s exec director, Terry Lawler.
