Oscar hopefuls hit the road
Hollywood has been taking its Great Oscar Hopes on the road in recent weeks, winging pics — and in some cases their stars — into tribute-laden fests around the country.
The “Kinsey” team touched down in Chicago for the Windy City 40th fest, joining “The Polar Express” star Tom Hanks and “Being Julia” star Annette Bening. “Kinsey” also unspooled at the Hamptons and Savannah film fest. Savannah also went “Sideways” for Alexander Payne‘s latest, while the Ojai film fest unspooled “Finding Neverland.”
As for tributes, there were plenty: The Hamptons fest honored Sony Classic’s Marcie Bloom and toasted the 10 year anni of IFC, while the Chicago fest feted “Polar” director Robert Zemeckis with a career achievement kudo. The Savannah film fest similarly honored Kathleen Turner and Norman Jewison, while the Vienna film fest rolled a 10 pic retrospective for Lauren Bacall. (See accompanying story, right.) And praisery stalwart A.C. Lyles got his due at the Ojai fest.
