Tony Award winner Marissa Jaret Winokur (“Hairspray”) has joined the cast of ABC’s “The Furst Family,” while “The Practice” alum Kelli Williams is joining NBC’s untitled medical mystery drama.
Winokur will play the 23-year-old daughter in “Furst Family,” which is loosely based on U.K. laffer “The Royle Family.” Her character causes a stir as she gets ready to be married.
Thesp most recently starred in and produced the ABC Family telepic “Beautiful Girl,” the channel’s top-rated TV movie last year. Other credits include the features “American Beauty” and “Never Been Kissed.”
Winokur had sealed a talent holding deal with ABC last year. Touchstone TV and Granada are behind “The Furst Family.”
Williams, meanwhile, will star opposite Neal McDonough in Peacock’s medical mystery project, which comes from NBC Studios and Paramount Network Television.
Williams spent seven seasons as Lindsay Dole on “The Practice.” She recently guested on “Hack” and “The Lyon’s Den.”
Other castings Wednesday included two more roles on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives”: Andrea Bowen (“Strong Medicine”) has been cast as Jenna Meyer, while Kyle Searles (“Malcolm in the Middle”) will star as John.
