Lyford, Cochrane named assistant managing editors

Kathy Lyford and Brian Cochrane have been named assistant managing editors of Variety and Daily Variety, it was announced by Variety editor-in-chief Peter Bart.

Lyford joined Variety in 2000 as a copy editor. In 2003, she was promoted to senior editor in charge of Daily Variety Gotham.

Before joining Variety, she worked as a sports editor and designer at the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

Lyford grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from UCLA.

Cochrane joined Variety in 1998 as a copy editor and has overseen the film section of Variety and currently supervises production of the Inside Moves section of Variety.

He was previously an editor and designer at the San Gabriel Valley Newspapers and the Long Beach Press-Telegram.

Cochrane, who hails from Chicago, studied film production and journalism at USC.
